For as long as I've lived, I think I'm a passionate anti-authoritarian person. I've read both 1984 and Animal Farm, and a lecture I had dissecting the books made me aware of the tricks governments and "the powers that be" uses to control us "common people". Language is one of them.

Ever heard the term "unalive"? "Unalive" is a softer version of "kill". YouTube didn't censor the word "kill" outright. It simply turned off the viability of revenue from videos with that word on the automated closed caption scan.

You can't outright say "YouTube censored the word 'kill' and changed it to an Orwellian newspeak term". Because you'd be wrong. What YouTube does is not at all censorship. At least not legally.

Dictionary making

You could then ask, what makes something a "censorship" act? For that, not only do we consult dictionaries, we also should consult laws regarding censorship. The law varies from state-to-state. Coincidentally YouTube is an international entity.

See, I don't know law. That's something I can openly admit. Therefore, I don't know which law YouTube abides by. That lack of knowledge is fuel for an Orwellian effort.

Because then, since we don't know, we can't begin to ask. We can't define what censorship is, and whether YouTube is censoring its content creators. This allows YouTube to define censorship to exclude what they did to the word "kill".

So is the word "suicide", "rape", "murder". These are terms that are slowly being erased by natural aversion of men to being unable to earn money. Why? Because we placed the platform atop of the throne.

Was it ever our fault?

Partially, it's our fault. We let ourselves be governed by an entity like YouTube. YouTube is convenient. YouTube can be accessed with a simple click. It loads fast, and it has all the creators we love and cherish.

Alternatives to YouTube simply can't scale. They die off one by one, and we gave this gargantuan Lovecraft monster a say in the way we use words.

No, not in that manner. Not tinkering with the dictionary and removing words to make newspeak happen. That would be insane.

Instead, look at what's natural: the human desire for capital.

Humans want capital in any form. Social, economical, spiritual, et cetera. YouTube embodied a stranglehold on the creators' capital. By hiding behind the veil of protecting children, they didn't force anyone to do anything.

The people who want capital would naturally conform to an authoritative say when they are no longer free to acquire said capital.

It was our fault. In the same way being jealous over our partner is our fault. It's only natural to want capital.

Censorship is the one not natural

We also have another innate thing. The desire to be free.

Our words as humans are not limited. They shouldn't be limited. Language is evolving, and it builds. Whatever new definitions should never confuse others and deny the material reality of things.

"Killing" is not "un-aliving". The act of removing life is "killing". To be removed of a life is to be "killed".

The material reality is not passive. Implying that death is passive is the most unnatural consequence of this new web scraping and auto caption world.

We are giving YouTube (and YouTube money) way too many chips. I've noticed "unalive" is being said with clear intent and as a genuine word sometimes. It's chilling to think how far we've collectively accepted authoritarianism in our day-to-day life.

Yet,

We pretend like we hate the establishment

Wall Street, the billionaires, those powerful people. They're the old kind of establishment. They're probably puppets as well.

Back in the day, sure. They control all the media or whatnot. But now, in the age where "media" and "real life" is constantly being confused and scrambled (probably by design, but that's a topic for another time), they no longer serve as the rightful people we rally against.

There are lobbyists and influencers out there making the internet more restrictive. No, not social media influencers, people with actual real political influence. They are here with hard data about the inevitability of a truly interconnected world. And they are already making rounds by confusing us.

Look around. How many semantics are being argued over something that is not in the material reality. Ask why do we have debates regarding word definitions and word identities.

The newspeak dictionary, I believe, is not written in one night.

We're seeing it now, live. It's scary to think that everyone seems to know it's happening. But nobody says anything.
